The Coalition for Independent Ratings Services is a non-profit organization that promotes independent ratings services. We believe is crucial that the groups rating the movies, TV, video games, etc are not the same ones who are trying to sell those products to you. Since they don't have a financial interest in any particular product, independent ratings providers can be much more objective. Today, the US Supreme Court struck down the California video game law that banned the sale and rental of explicit video games to minors. Senator Leland Yee first introduced the law in 2005. The law was passed but was later overturned by lower courts.
